Fitz Greene Halleck, (1790 –1867) was an American poet and essayist. He was born at Guilford CT, USA.
He was descendant of pilgrims who landed in new heaven. He was a very popular romantic poet.
One of his most famous creations was the poem Marco Bozariss.
This bronze sculpture was made by James Wilson Alexander MacDonalds.
It is located on south side of the central park mall, near the statues of Sir Walter Scott, Robert Burns and William Shakespeare. These four statues form literary walk.
