Strawberry Fields is a 2.5 acre lawn located in Central Park near its Westren Border from 71st to 74th street. Nearby locations include the lake on its north-east and Cherry hill on its east.
The area has now dedicated to the memory of musician John Lennon. John Lennon (1940-1980) was a world-famous singer and song writer. He was shot dead in December 1980. He lived in near by apartment on 72nd street and was a frequent central park visitor. In his memory the Strawberry Fields Memorial was created.
